Today I had a virtual interior design consultation with K. Jillian Designs and it was amazing!!

It is hard to imagine doing something so personal to you space and life virtually-but I have to say that K. made it super easy. In this trying time where myself and others are 100% at home, we ended out call with me feeling empowered, excited and confident that I could make realistic, creative, and fun updates that will make my apartment a more livable and enjoyable space.

Here’s a quick recap of how things went.

To prepare, I sent her inspirational pictures of my style aesthetic and photos of my home.

We started with a virtual walk-through, coming through my front door, and then a tour of my entire apartment.

Then we moved on to talking about each room/space individually and what her ideas were in terms of updating; adding pieces, removing pieces, rearranging what exists, etc. As part of this I broke out my tape measure, which to be honest isn’t something I do- ha!-to get an idea of what could fit where.

These are the things I most appreciated about our time together:

K. made me feel in control of my space. That there were many ways, beyond anything I’d ever imagined, to do both small and bigger things to make the space that I have work better for me.

K. made my budget work for me. She asked me great questions and gave me recommendations that will be actionable now, while taking into consideration that I’m a renter so anything we did would need to be not permanent.

K. brought all of her recommendations to life by sending me photos while we talked to help me understand looks and context.

K. was open to my ideas as well. She had a wonderful way of being open and considerate of my thoughts and when and where they could be incorporated into the overall vision and/or where something else may work better-she was always right on!

K. made me feel like I have a partner through this. I will do the shopping/assembling on my own but she gave me a wonderful road map to get there and we will plan other check-ins to check my progress.

I couldn’t have asked for a better virtual consultation and I”m looking forward to the results. I already feel better simply knowing what is possible!
